Taylor Swift has officially confirmed her involvement in Disney and Pixar's 'Toy Story 5,' following weeks of fan speculation, mysterious hints, and Easter eggs with a Toy Story theme. The international pop sensation revealed on 1st June, that she has written and recorded an original song for the much-awaited animated follow-up called 'I Knew It, I Knew You.'

The song will be available on 5th June and will be part of the official soundtrack when 'Toy Story 5' opens in theaters on 19th June, 2026.

Taylor Swift Finally Confirms the Rumours

Swifties had been certain for months that Taylor Swift had a covert connection to 'Toy Story 5.' Their suspicions only grew stronger after mysterious "TS" billboards appeared across major cities, while a countdown timer on Swift's website featured visuals resembling the iconic cloud wallpaper from Andy's room in the original 'Toy Story.'

The speculation reached fever pitch before Swift finally put the rumours to rest with an announcement on social media.

Sharing her excitement, Swift wrote: "It's a Toy Story. You knew it! My new original song 'I Knew It, I Knew You' for Disney and Pixar's Toy Story 5 will be yours on June 5th." She added that she had "always dreamed" of writing for these adored characters and that the franchise has had a particular place in her heart since she was a young child.

The singer claimed that after seeing an early showing of the movie, she was so moved that she wrote the song as soon as she got home.

What Is Taylor Swift's Role in 'Toy Story 5'?

Disney has already cleared that Swift's contribution is only through music, despite the fact that many fans had questioned whether she would provide a voice for a new character in the movie. The plot will heavily rely on Swift's original song, 'I Knew It, I Knew You,' which she wrote and performed.

Co-written and co-produced with longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff, the track is being hailed as a return to Swift’s country roots, fusing the narrative approach that initially catapulted her into international stardom.

The song was inspired by Jessie, the adored cowgirl who first appeared in 'Toy Story 2,' according to director Andrew Stanton. Based on reports, Swift was able to relate to Jessie's emotional journey right away, which resulted in a song that perfectly captures both the character and the film.

For the unversed, this is not Swift's first venture into movie music. She has written iconic songs for films including 'Where the Crawdads Sing' (Carolina), 'The Hunger Games' (Safe & Sound), and 'Cats' (Beautiful Ghosts) over the years, earning critical acclaim for her cinematic songwriting.

Bad Bunny, New Characters and What's Next for 'Toy Story 5'

Swift's announcement comes shortly after Pixar revealed several exciting additions to 'Toy Story 5.' Producer Bizarrap will also make a special cameo in the movie's toy community, while latest reports claims that international music singer Bad Bunny has joined the franchise as "Pizza with Sunglasses," a funny forgotten toy with lots of attitude.

In addition to bringing back beloved characters Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie, the film is also set to introduce a number of new characters, such as Greta Lee's Lilypad, a tablet-like gadget that serves as the focal point of the main "toys vs technology" struggle.

'Toy Story 5,' which is co-directed by Kenna Harris and directed by Andrew Stanton, will explore how conventional toys find it difficult to remain relevant in a world when screens and technology are taking over. Additionally, the movie will expand on Bonnie's toy universe by introducing new characters that includes Smarty Pants, Atlas, and Snappy.

Set for release on 19th June, the sequel promises a mix of nostalgia, humour and emotion, with Taylor Swift's original song adding another major highlight to one of Pixar's most anticipated releases in years.
