Taylor Swift owned the night at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards, taking home the prestigious Artist of the Year trophy among seven total wins.

The pop icon received her awards at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles from Olympic gold medalist Alysa Liu. Swift took a moment to praise Liu, noting how much joy the skater brought to the world during the 2026 Olympics and expressing how inspired she was by the athlete's dedication and love for her sport.

Taylor Swift's Acceptance Speech

During her acceptance speech, the 14-time Grammy winner reflected on her own journey, admitting that she didn't always see herself as a professional artist. She explained that songwriting started as a simple hobby—her favourite one—and recalled the days when she would rush home from school just to play her guitar. Swift looked back fondly on being 12 years old, noting that she had the rare luxury of spending thousands of hours practising and making mistakes in private, away from any public eye.

Addressing the ambitious crowd, Swift touched on the pressures of living in a world dominated by social media and instant feedback. She pointed out that nowadays, everything people share or post is met with immediate judgment, whether good or bad. Her hope for the audience was that they would find the space to nurture their own passions and hobbies in private. She encouraged everyone to give themselves the necessary time to fail and refine their skills behind closed doors.

Swift shared her belief that while the mind internalises what it is fed, the internet often tries to tear down what is shared. She urged her fans not to let that happen to their dreams. Closing her speech, she thanked her supporters for letting her turn a childhood hobby into a lifelong career and wished them the best in their own pursuits.

The win follows a historic year for Taylor Swift, which included the release of her 12th studio album, 'The Life of a Showgirl,' and her Disney+ docuseries, 'The End of an Era.' Her new album shattered records, moving 2.7 million copies on its first day and securing her spot as the solo artist with the most number-one albums in history. After leading the night with nine nominations, Taylor Swift proved once again why she remains the most dominant force in music.
