What's in 'Practical Magic 2'?

In the new film, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman return as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens, who also happen to be witches. Their lives take an unexpected turn when a mysterious man, played by Lee Pace, arrives in their quiet New England town with a purpose that shakes things up. The studio has kept the plot largely under wraps, teasing the film simply with the idea that the magic returns.

Nicole Kidman first revealed back in 2024 that a sequel was in the works, explaining that she and Bullock had found a way to revisit these iconic characters. The creative team later shared that the strong connection fans have with the Owens sisters inspired them to continue the story for both longtime viewers and a new generation.

The excitement continued at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on 14th April, where the two stars appeared together and announced that the witches are back, much to the crowd's delight.

New Faces in 'Practical Magic 2'

The sequel also brings in fresh faces, including Joey King as Sally's daughter, alongside Maisie Williams, Xolo Maridueña, and Solly McLeod. Returning cast members Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest reprise their roles as the quirky aunts who raised the Owens sisters.

The film is co-written by Akiva Goldman, who worked on the original, along with Georgia Pritchett from 'Succession'. Both Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman also serve as producers on the project.

The original story, based on the novel by Alice Hoffman, followed two sisters trying to break a family curse that doomed the men they loved. Now, decades later, the sequel continues that magical legacy.

'Practical Magic 2' is set to hit theatres on 11th September.
