Melanie 'Mel C' Chisholm's wedding turned into a sentimental celebration of friendship, style, and girl power nearly 30 years after the Spice Girls permanently changed popular culture. On 18th July, the singer married Australian model Chris Dingwall in a small-scale rural ceremony in Cumbria, England. However, what really attracted fans' attention was an unexpected Spice Girls reunion, in which one notable member was missing.

A Fairytale Wedding With a Victoria Beckham Twist

Mel C, 51, married Chris Dingwall in late 2023 after meeting him on the famous dating app Raya. Before keeping their relationship mostly under wraps, the couple apparently had an immediate connection. After a civil ceremony in Australia, they celebrated with close family and friends at The Country House in Cumbria on 18th July, with Mel C's 17-year-old daughter, Scarlett, serving as a bridesmaid.

In a simple satin gown created by none other than Victoria Beckham, the bride embraced subtle elegance. The "something borrowed" custom is particularly significant because, according to Vogue, Beckham even donated Mel C one of her own outfits for the Australian ceremony because the original ensemble did not fit in time. 

Speaking about the design, Victoria said, "Melanie is quite minimalist and didn't want anything too fussy, conceptual or overly complicated, this is all very aligned with what I do."

Photographer Andrew Timms' photos went viral on social media, and the open-back gown, vintage-inspired lace details, champagne satin shoes, and matching clutch instantly became one of the wedding's most shared photos.

A Spice Girls Reunion—But Where Was Victoria?

Mel B, Emma Bunton, and Geri Horner attended the ceremony to honour their longtime bandmate, making it a mini-Spice Girls reunion. Fans were immediately delighted by the band's group images, which brought back memories of the worldwide phenomenon that ruled the late 1990s. 

Victoria Beckham was the only Spice Girl absent, as she was supporting husband David Beckham during the closing weekend of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. However, her outfit design made sure she continued to play a significant role in the celebration even though she was not present in person.

The absence naturally reignited speculation about possible tensions within the group, but there is little evidence of a fresh rift. Although Victoria has stopped performing with the Spice Girls in recent years to concentrate on her design company, she has continuously kept up friendships with the group's members. 

Her decision to personally design Mel C's wedding dress was widely viewed as a gesture of affection rather than distance.
