Bad Bunny is adding another milestone to his remarkable 2026. The Puerto Rican superstar has created Emmy history just months after presenting a ground-breaking Super Bowl LX Halftime Show. His Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show, which was announced on 8th July, has been nominated for nine Primetime Emmys, the most for a Super Bowl halftime show ever.

The record-breaking recognition comes after the show drew 128.2 million viewers, making it the fourth most-watched Super Bowl halftime show of all time.

A Record-Breaking Emmy Run for the Super Bowl's Biggest Show

Even before the Emmy nominations were announced, the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show, which took place on 8th February, at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, was already historic.

With a performance that was performed almost entirely in Spanish and honoured Puerto Rican culture, Bad Bunny became the first Latino solo artist to lead the Super Bowl halftime show. Both fans and critics praised the production, which also included special appearances by Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, and Los Pleneros de la Cresta.

With nine Emmy nominations, the performance has surpassed all prior Super Bowl halftime shows. Outstanding Variety Special (Live), where Bad Bunny is acknowledged as both the lead performer and a producer alongside executive producers Jay-Z (Shawn Carter), Jesse Collins, Desiree Perez, and Noah Assad, is one of the greatest nods.

Directing, choreography, lighting design, sound mixing, production design, technical direction, picture editing, and music direction are among the technical categories in which the halftime show is nominated.

Additionally, it is the seventh Super Bowl halftime program to be nominated for an Outstanding Variety Special (Live) award. But only the Dr. Dre-led Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show from 2022 has ever taken home the prize.

Taylor Swift Also Scores Big as the 2026 Emmys Take Shape

Bad Bunny isn't the only music superstar celebrating. For her Disney+ concert special, 'Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show,' Taylor Swift received five Emmy nominations, including one for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), for which she is a producer. Nominations for directing, picture editing, sound mixing, technical direction, and camerawork were also received for the program.

The Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles will host the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards on 14th September, 2026. This year's list demonstrates that live music events are becoming just as important, even though televised heavyweights still dominate the nominations.

The record-breaking nine Emmy nominations for Bad Bunny serve as both a reminder of the cultural influence of his Super Bowl performance and another noteworthy accomplishment in an already remarkable year.
