Debbie Harry and Pamela Anderson are coming together for a new indie comedy film titled 'Maitreya,' where the two stars will play mother and daughter.
The movie is written by Samuel D. Hunter, best known for the Oscar-winning film 'The Whale,' and will be directed by Jonathan Krisel, who previously worked on 'Portlandia' and 'Baskets.'
About 'Maitreya'
The story follows Maitreya, played by Pamela Anderson, a popular figure in the New Age healing world who is preparing to attend a conference in India. Her plans change after learning that her estranged father is seriously ill. Instead of staying behind, she decides to take her family—including her mother Barbara, played by Debbie Harry—along to the conference while also secretly gathering ideas for her next book.

Debbie Harry, best known as the lead singer of Blondie, has also built a successful acting career over the years. She appeared in several well-known films, including 'Videodrome,' 'Hairspray,' 'Cop Land,' 'Union City' and 'Forever, Lulu.' Last year, Harry revealed that Florence Pugh would be her ideal choice to portray her in a future biopic. Earlier reports had suggested Kirsten Dunst was once attached to a similar project, but it was never made.
Pamela Anderson's Comeback
Pamela Anderson has also seen a major comeback in recent years. She received praise for her role in the 2024 indie drama 'The Last Showgirl' and later appeared alongside Liam Neeson in the remake of 'The Naked Gun.'
Earlier this year, Anderson revealed she left the Golden Globe Awards early to avoid actor Seth Rogen. Her comments were linked to the 2022 series 'Pam & Tommy,' which explored the controversy surrounding her private tape with former husband Tommy Lee. Anderson has repeatedly said she was never consulted about the series and felt deeply hurt by its production.
