‘Game of Thrones’ spinoffs continue to rise from the ashes, with George R.R. Martin announcing a revival of the previously shelved prequel series ‘Ten Thousand Ships.' Recently awarded Pulitzer Prize winner Eboni Booth has been tapped to write the pilot. Martin expressed enthusiasm on his blog, praising Booth as a talented playwright and highlighting the excitement surrounding the new spinoff centred on Nymeria and the Rhoynar.
The series set a millennium before ‘Game of Thrones,' follows Princess Nymeria and her people's journey from Essos to Dorne after their defeat by the Valyrians and their dragons.

Earlier this year, writer Brian Helgeland, who was initially developing the show, described it as reminiscent of Ray Harryhausen’s Sinbad films mixed with ‘The Odyssey.' Martin has been vocal about the varying speeds of development for different spinoffs, emphasising that despite setbacks, none are truly dead. The only spinoff to have aired so far is ‘House of the Dragon’, with its second season scheduled to debut soon.
Meanwhile, other projects like ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’, based on Martin's novellas, are moving forward after delays caused by the Hollywood writers' strike. Plans are underway for a 2025 premiere. Additionally, a series focusing on Aegon I Targaryen and an animated show centred on House of the Dragon's Corlys Velaryon are in the early stages of development.
