Production on 'How to Train Your Dragon 2' has reportedly been hit by a serious on-set accident after a crew member suffered a severe injury while working on the film.

According to reports, a special effects technician lost multiple fingers in a workshop accident at Sky Studios Elstree, where the live-action sequel is currently filming. The injury happened while the technician was using a saw, and despite major surgery, the fingers could not be reattached.

Universal Pictures has not publicly commented on the incident.

About 'How to Train Your Dragon 2'

The sequel follows the success of 2025's live-action 'How to Train Your Dragon,' which reimagined the beloved animated story first introduced by DreamWorks Animation.

Director Dean DeBlois previously shared that the sequel was greenlit early after the studio gained confidence from audience test screenings. While he was initially cautious about announcing a second film before the first remake even debuted, the studio wanted to build excitement early.

The story returns to the Isle of Berk, following Hiccup, played by Mason Thames, as he continues his bond with Toothless. The cast also includes Gerard Butler, Nico Parker and Nick Frost.

'How to Train Your Dragon 2' is currently set for release on 11th June 2027.
