This week, Mexico City went entirely purple as BTS made their eagerly awaited 'ARIRANG World Tour,' their first visit to the nation in almost nine years. With sold-out venues, heartfelt fan experiences, and viral videos taking over social media, the group's performances at Estadio GNP Seguros swiftly rose to prominence as one of the largest music events of the year.

However, what truly caught global attention was the unbelievable atmosphere outside the stadium, where nearly 40,000 fans gathered just to sing along, cheer and experience the concert together even without tickets. The overwhelming response once again proved BTS' unmatched global popularity and the deep emotional connection they share with ARMY worldwide.

BTS' Return to Mexico City Sparks Massive Fan Frenzy

Even before the concerts officially began, there was a lot of anticipation for BTS' trip to Mexico. Ahead of their performances, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook made a special appearance at Mexico City's National Palace, where they met Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. The members greeted the over 50,000 fans gathered in the Zócalo area shortly after the meeting by appearing on the balcony of the ancient building.

Videos of fans singing BTS songs, waving purple banners, and celebrating the group's homecoming to the nation went viral on the internet right away. The event became such a massive cultural moment that several streets around the city were reportedly filled with BTS-themed decorations, unofficial fan gatherings and merchandise stalls.

Even more momentous were the concerts themselves. As part of their ongoing 'ARIRANG World Tour,' which is the group's first significant tour following their military duty, BTS played three sold-out performances at Estadio GNP Seguros on 7th, 9th, and 10th May. All of the tickets for the Mexico City concerts reportedly sold out minutes after they were released, and hundreds of fans were unable to get seats despite the high demand.

With more than 80 performances across several continents, the tour has already grown to be one of BTS' largest international tours ever. Fans at the Mexico concerts were treated to performances of songs from the group's latest album Arirang alongside iconic hits like 'Dynamite,' 'Butter,' 'Spring Day' and 'Boy With Luv.'

40,000 Fans Outside Stadium Turn Concert into Citywide Celebration

Even though there were a lot of people inside the stadium, the atmosphere outside became even more of a topic of discussion on social media. Nearly 40,000 ARMYs were gathered outside the stadium singing BTS songs together, dancing, waving lightsticks, and cheering all night long, according to viral videos from Day 2 of the concert.

Even if they were unable to purchase tickets, many fans nonetheless traveled to the event just to experience it. Social media users described the scenes as "a festival outside the stadium," with several clips showing crowds singing in perfect sync even from outside the venue walls.

The emotional response highlighted BTS' extraordinary influence in Latin America, especially in Mexico where the group has built one of its strongest fanbases over the years. Within hours, videos of the crowd singing full songs and yelling the members' names went viral on Instagram, X, and TikTok, receiving millions of views.

Several fans online also praised the positive and safe atmosphere created by ARMY during the large gathering. Reports suggested local authorities had to increase crowd management efforts around the stadium due to the unexpectedly huge turnout outside the venue.
