A late-night burger run turned into an unforgettable highlight for Tom Whitfield. Just hours after Michael B. Jordan secured his Best Actor win at the 2026 Oscars, he kept the Hollywood tradition alive by heading straight to an In-N-Out Burger near the Dolby Theatre. Whitfield happened to be there at the exact right moment and described the scene as pure chaos, noting that the entire restaurant erupted in cheers the second the 39-year-old actor walked through the doors.
While the surprise felt spontaneous to the hungry fans inside, Whitfield noticed that the staff seemed ready for the star's arrival. Jordan's order appeared to be prepared in advance, leading Whitfield to believe the restaurant had been given a heads-up. Although there were rumours floating around that the 'Sinners' star might have picked up the tab for other customers, Whitfield couldn't confirm if anyone else got a free meal.
Michael B. Jordan's In-N-Out Burger Visit
Despite the frenzy, Jordan remained incredibly down-to-earth. Whitfield recalled that the actor was humble and gracious with everyone. When Whitfield offered his congratulations, Jordan warmly thanked him, calling him brother, and even shared a fist bump before heading out.
The encounter was a stroke of luck for Whitfield, who was simply visiting Los Angeles and decided to explore the area near the awards show. After spending over an hour behind a security fence hoping to see celebrities leave the theatre, he and a friend caught brief glimpses of Teyana Taylor and Nicole Kidman in golf carts. Eventually, they gave up on the stakeout and decided to grab dinner, unaware that their timing was about to become legendary.

Reflecting on the night in an Instagram post, Whitfield shared how a random impulse to get off the bus and explore Melrose led him straight into one of the most insane experiences of his life. He described the moment of meeting a major Hollywood winner so shortly after his victory as totally awesome and perfectly timed. To top off the "only in LA" experience, he even joked that they managed to snag some of the champion's fries.
