Kirsten Dunst is officially adding another high-profile sequel to her schedule. The 43-year-old actress is set to star alongside Sydney Sweeney in the follow-up to the 2025 hit 'The Housemaid.' Lionsgate shared the news in December, confirming that production for the sequel, titled 'The Housemaid's Secret,' is slated to begin in 2026.

Erin Westerman, the president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, expressed great excitement about bringing the next chapter of the story to life with Kirsten Dunst. She described the actress as an icon with incredible range and bravery in her work. Westerman added that putting Kirsten Dunst on screen with the magnetic Sydney Sweeney will create an electrifying dynamic in a story where things are rarely what they seem.
The original film was a massive success, bringing in nearly $400 million at the global box office. While Sweeney, 28, led the first movie alongside Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar, actor Michele Morrone is also expected to return for the second instalment.

This casting comes at a busy time for Dunst. After starring in 'Roofman' with Channing Tatum, she joked in an interview with Town & Country that she'd love to work on a massive project that was guaranteed to be a hit. It seems she got her wish, as she recently told her Instagram followers that her dreams came true after booking a role in the upcoming 'Minecraft Movie' sequel as well.
As for Amanda Seyfried, her character Nina Winchester doesn't feature as heavily in the later books, but she isn't ready to say goodbye to the franchise just yet. In January, she told Variety that she is almost certain she will make a small cameo in the new film, noting that she would jump at the chance to return to that world in any capacity. While 'The Housemaid's Secret' doesn't have a release date just yet, Kirsten Dunst remains busy with several other upcoming projects, including 'The Entertainment System Is Down' and 'Rhubarb.'
