Kate Middleton added another tiara moment to her 2023 highlights! The 41-year-old Princess of Wales attended the Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace evening alongside Prince William, King Charles and Queen Camilla.

The foursome posed for a portrait together in the 1844 Room during the annual event that welcomes numerous members of the Diplomatic Corps to the royal residence.

For this year's reception, Princess Kate opted for a special tiara: ‘Queen Mary's Lover's Knot Tiara’. This royal headpiece holds a special place in her collection, having been worn by her on 11 occasions since 2015. Notably, the tiara was also a favourite of her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, who wore it on multiple occasions. The Court Jeweller notes that the exquisite sparkler is over a century old, originally commissioned by Queen Mary from the jeweller Garrard in either 1913 or 1914. It is a replica of a tiara owned by Mary's grandmother, Princess Augusta of Hesse, the Duchess of Cambridge.

Kate Middleton Showcased Lover's Knot Tiara

In a delightful style encore, Kate Middleton showcased the timeless elegance of the ‘Lover's Knot Tiara’ once again, gracing the palace reception with a recreation of her entire look from June's royal wedding banquet for Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa of Jordan. Notably, she donned the same resplendent pink gown by Jenny Packham, ensuring a seamless and enchanting continuity.

Adding a touch of sentimental significance, the Princess of Wales adorned herself with the Greville Chandelier earrings, maintaining the same captivating allure. These exquisite jewels, introduced by Kate at the Jordan royal wedding in June, serve as a poignant homage to the late Queen Elizabeth.

The earrings, originally bestowed upon Queen Elizabeth as a wedding gift from her parents, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, on her union with Prince Philip in 1947, carry a rich historical narrative as preserved by the Royal Collection Trust. The entire ensemble not only exuded regal sophistication but also paid tribute to the enduring legacy of royal traditions.

In a delightful twist, her choice of headpiece was a complete surprise—a tiara not seen in public since the 1930s, namely the ‘Strathmore Rose Tiara’. This marked the fourth tiara adorned by the Princess of Wales throughout her illustrious royal journey.
