For decades, Indian rock fans have waited for this announcement. Now, it's finally happening. American rock band Foo Fighters have announced that they would be performing live in Bengaluru and Mumbai in January 2027 as part of their first-ever tour of India. The news is a significant turning point for both the band and India's quickly expanding live music sector, which has lately drawn some of the greatest names in international entertainment.
With more than 31 years of music history, 15 Grammy Awards, an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and several arena-filling shows across the globe, the visit of Foo Fighters is being marked as one of the most important rock concerts ever announced in the country.

Who Are Foo Fighters
After Kurt Cobain's death in 1994, drummer-turned-frontman Dave Grohl founded Foo Fighters, which swiftly grew from a one-man band to one of the most significant rock groups of the contemporary age. The Seattle-based band has put out 12 studio albums over the past 30 years, and their library is full of hits including 'Everlong,' 'The Pretender,' 'Best of You,' 'My Hero,' 'Learn to Fly,' 'Monkey Wrench,' and 'All My Life.'
Their 1997 breakthrough album 'The Colour and the Shape' established them as one of rock’s defining acts, while their relentless touring and energetic live performances helped them maintain global relevance across generations.

Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, Rami Jaffee, and Ilan Rubin are the current members of the band. Their current world tour is being used to promote their most recent album, 'Your Favorite Toy,' which was released in 2026 and has been characterized as a return to the band's high-energy roots.
India Debut After 31 Years
After 31 years as a band, Foo Fighters will finally perform in India as part of a two-city tour in January 2027. The tour will start on 29th January, 2027, at Bengaluru LIVE in Bengaluru, followed by a second performance, that will take place at Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Mumbai on 31st January, 2027.
Both events, in contrast to a traditional concert, are planned as expansive festival experiences that will include a number of Indian and international performers prior to the main act. Pinkshift, Alain Johannes, Die Spitz, and The Pretty Reckless will perform in Bengaluru, while Mali, Still In Therapy, Die Spitz, and The Pretty Reckless are set to perform in Mumbai.

Tickets will go on sale through BookMyShow on 16th June, with organizers positioning the shows as landmark events in India's concert calendar. Expressing his excitement, Dave Grohl said, "After 31 years as a band, we can't wait to finally play for our fans in India! It's taken a few years but we promise it'll be worth the wait. We hope Bengaluru and Mumbai are ready for a couple of very long, very loud nights."
What Live Nation and Organisers Have to Say?
The announcement is seen by industry professionals as a turning point for the live entertainment industry in India. The band is one of the most influential forces in contemporary rock, according to Naman Pugalia, Chief Business Officer-Live Events at BookMyShow. He also stated that the band's eagerly anticipated India debut is a significant turning point for both rock fans and the nation's concert scene.
According to him, the concerts will feature world-class production, a carefully curated supporting lineup and an experience worthy of a band whose influence has spanned nearly three decades.

The arrival of Foo Fighters, soon after Guns N' Roses confirmed their India shows, highlights the country's rising stature in the global live music landscape and the audience demand.
For a generation of fans who grew up listening to 'Everlong' and 'Best of You,' January 2027 is more than just another concert date—it is the fulfilment of a three-decade wait and the beginning of Foo Fighters' long-overdue story in India.
