In a poignant message, he urged followers to join him in prayer, invoking healing for the victims and strength for the medical professionals and first responders on the frontlines of the crisis.

Meanwhile, Brittany Mahomes, the wife of football star Patrick Mahomes, also utilised her platform to express solidarity with the affected individuals and their families. Through an Instagram story, she denounced violence as an unacceptable solution and extended her heartfelt prayers for both Kansas City and the nation at large, underscoring the gravity of the situation.

The alarming incident, which unfolded shortly after Chiefs players had departed the parade stage, left one individual dead and 22 others wounded, as disclosed by Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graces in a press conference. Despite the swift response from law enforcement, including the detainment of three individuals for investigation, the motive behind the shooting remained unclear at the time.

Providing further insights into the severity of the situation, Kansas City Fire Chief Ross Grundyson detailed the injuries sustained by the victims, ranging from immediately life-threatening to minor. The injured were swiftly transported to multiple hospitals in the area, including Children's Mercy, Truman Medical and St. Luke's, for urgent medical attention.
