Is Britney Spears getting ready for a musical comeback? The Princess of Pop is cooking up some fresh tunes, marking her return to the music scene after almost a decade. Songwriters Charli XCX and Julia Michaels are said to be on board for her upcoming album. However, a close source spilled the tea to TMZ, debunking the rumours.

Britney herself set the record straight, shutting down the gossip mill. "Just so we're clear, most of the news is trash!!! They keep saying I'm turning to random people to do a new album. I will never return to the music industry," she declared.

Despite the denial, Page Six stands by its report, stating that Britney's team has indeed enlisted Charli XCX and Julia Michaels for her first album since 2016's 'Glory.' The plot thickens, but Britney seems adamant about staying away from the limelight, emphasizing that her recent writing endeavours have been for others.

"When I write, I write for fun or I write for other people!!! For those of you who have read my book, there's loads that you don't know about me. I've written over 20 songs for other people in the past two years," Britney shared, proudly wearing the title of a "ghostwriter."

Her last album, 'Glory,' dropped over eight years ago, and Britney appears to be focused on other ventures. In the same Instagram post, she addressed rumours about her memoir being published without her approval, stating, "People are also saying MY BOOK WAS RELEASED WITHOUT MY APPROVAL ILLEGALLY, and that's far from the truth."

Amidst these musical musings, Britney is navigating personal shifts, including her recent separation from her husband Sam Asghari after 14 months of marriage. Rebuilding relationships with her family post-conservatorship, Britney's life has taken a literary turn with her memoir, 'The Woman in Me,' soaring to instant bestseller status, with over 1.1 million copies sold in its first week.
