The ongoing saga of apologies or lack thereof continues between former flames Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake.
In the latest episode of their public back-and-forth, Timberlake made a seemingly defiant statement during his Wednesday concert in New York City, where he declared to the audience, "I’d like to take this opportunity to apologise to absolutely f---ing nobody" before launching into his hit song 'Cry Me a River.' This comment was confirmed by a concert attendee to a magazine.
In what appears to be a direct response, Spears took to Instagram the following day with a cryptic post. "Someone told me someone was talking s--- about me on the streets!!! [sic]" she wrote. "Do you want to bring it to court or will you go home crying to your mom like you did last time??? I’m not sorry!!!"
Spears' Instagram post hints at the tumultuous history between her and Timberlake, particularly highlighted in her memoir, 'The Woman In Me.' In the book, Spears revealed deeply personal details about her past relationship with Timberlake, including undergoing an ab*rtion with his child and the alleged infidelity and public humiliation she endured.
Timberlake's recent onstage declaration appeared to be a response to Spears' revelations in her memoir, particularly regarding the hit song ‘Cry Me a River’, which is rumoured to be about their breakup.
In a live performance about a month prior, Timberlake prefaced the song by saying, "No disrespect," before launching into the emotional track at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas.
