With over 49 million albums sold worldwide, 84 billion career streams, and a collection of Grammy, Oscar, and Golden Globe wins, Sam Smith remains one of the defining voices of modern pop. Now, the British star is set to open a new chapter with 'Hazel Eyes,' their fifth studio album, arriving on 21st August, alongside the release of the intimate new single 'My Guy.'

A New Chapter for Sam Smith

Sam Smith is embarking on a new musical period following almost ten years of chart-topping hits, critically acclaimed albums, and career-defining achievements. The British singer-songwriter formally announced on 24th June, that their fifth studio album, 'Hazel Eyes,' will be released by Capitol Records on 21st August.

The project follows 2023's 'Gloria' and marks Smith's first full-length album in over three years. Known for international singles including 'Stay With Me,' 'Too Good at Goodbyes,' 'Dancing With a Stranger,' and the Grammy-winning 'Unholy,' Smith has amassed one of the most prosperous careers in contemporary pop, receiving numerous Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and billions of streams globally.

Industry estimates place Smith among the best-selling British artists of the past decade, with over 49 million albums sold globally and more than 84 billion career streams.

Why 'Hazel Eyes' Could Be Sam Smith's Most Personal Album Yet

Smith claims that romance, self-discovery, and their experiences in New York City are at the core of 'Hazel Eyes.' The 12-track album was co-produced by Smith alongside longtime collaborators Simon Aldred and David Odlum. Over the course of more than three years, parts of the record were constructed at the renowned Electric Lady Studios in New York.

The album also features contributions from acclaimed artists including Feist, Shahzad Ismaily, Rob Moose, and The TwoCityChorus.

Smith described the project as an intimate reflection of their life and relationships, with New York serving as a major creative influence throughout the writing process. Along with the previously released 2025 single 'To Be Free,' the tracklist include songs like 'Everlasting Love,' 'Sugar Rush,' 'Hold On,' and the title track 'Hazel Eyes.'

'My Guy' Sets the Tone for the Album

Smith released the album's opening track, 'My Guy,' which is a heartfelt love song that provides the first look into Hazel Eyes' emotional world. Smith highlighted the song's personal relevance on social media before to its release, saying that it felt like one they had "been waiting a lifetime to write and sing."

Built around a warm, stripped-back production, the track focuses on devotion, vulnerability, and contentment—themes that appear to define the broader album.

Critics and early listeners have already pointed to the song's sincerity and understated arrangement as a return to the emotional storytelling that first made Smith a global star. With the arrival of 'Hazel Eyes' on 21st August, the vocalist seems prepared to embark on a new chapter in their career, one that will be more personal, reflective, and intimate than before.
