‘Stranger Things’ Has Caused a Surge in Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’ Streaming

After appearing in the latest season of Stranger Things, Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’ has had a 153% boost in streams.

Bush’s song is featured in the first episode of the new show and then prominently in some of the subsequent episodes via key moments involving the character, Max Mayfield. The first volume of season four was released on Netflix on 27th May.

The song, which is from Bush’s album ‘Hounds of Love,’ has surpassed ‘Wuthering Heights’ on Spotify as her most popular title, with a 153% increase in Spotify streams. The streaming giants described it as “the biggest gainer on the Global Spotify chart.”

The song also reached number one on iTunes.

On 27th May, the first section of the whole soundtrack was released, which you can listen to above. On 1st July, the second volume of the season, as well as the second half of the soundtrack, will be released.

The first half of the collection includes songs by Journey, Talking Heads and The Cramps, in addition to Bush.

‘The Complete Stranger Things: Soundtrack From The Netflix Series, Season 4’ (Volumes I and II) will be available on CD and cassette beginning 9th September. The album will also be released as a 2LP 12′′ vinyl edition later this year.

‘ Stranger Things’ will end after season five, according to the creators of the show, Duffer Brothers.
