Jennifer Lopez has developed a strategy for dealing with online criticism, though she acknowledges that some comments can still be "hurtful." In a candid conversation with comedian Nikki Glaser for the cover story of Interview magazine, Lopez, 55, discussed the tumultuous summer she experienced, which included canceling her tour and publicly navigating the end of her marriage to Ben Affleck. She filed for divorce in August, citing 26th April as their date of separation.
Lopez noted that many strangers online attempted to assign blame for the breakup. “I know that everything being said about me, and all the speculation about who I am, isn’t the truth,” she stated, emphasizing that she learned long ago not to internalize the negative opinions of others.

She also explained that since social media emerged after she was already in the public eye, she doesn’t take it as seriously as many do. “I know I’m a good person and a good mom,” she affirmed, highlighting her close relationships with her family and friends.
As a mother to 16-year-old twins with ex-husband Marc Anthony, Lopez believes that having a long career requires learning how to navigate public scrutiny. “Some people will love you, and some won’t understand you,” she remarked, adding that negativity from others ultimately doesn’t matter. For her, what’s important is creating work that inspires her, regardless of its commercial success.

Despite her strong outlook, Lopez admitted, “Please don’t get me wrong; I’m not Teflon.” She understands that those who spread negativity often do so from a place of unhappiness. “I can’t pay attention to that when I have beautiful kids and wonderful things happening in my life,” she reflected, quoting ‘Finding Nemo’ with a reminder to "keep on swimming."
