  • 2. Republic Records, one of the most powerful recording labels in the US, made a promise to stop using the word 'urban' to describe music of African-American origin. This term has become a serious problem as it started being used as an umbrella term for all music created by black musicians. By striking it down, Republic Records has also asked other labels to follow suit.
