Taylor Swift – 1, Kimye – 0

As if by cosmic fate, the lords of the internet have, through mysterious origins, answered our prayers and delivered a video that will take us through another day of bed sitting and not showering.

The news abuzz is this — a full length video of the conversation between Kayne West, Kim K, and Taylor Swift has surfaced. If this doesn’t ring the bell in hell just yet let us jog your drama-repository memory. After the 2016-hit song ‘Famous’ came out that had the lyric, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that bitch famous,” the saga began where Taylor objected to being called “that bitch” and also being implicated in Kanye’s weird fetish for people he doesn’t actually like. Which then gave birth to a video posted by Kim K of a phone conversation where it seems that Taylor was well aware of the song and the intent. Which then gave birth to a global point-and-shame-at-Taylor phenomenon. And that, kids, is how, your snake emojis met the world.

Now the newly surfaced video, whose authenticity is widely accepted as is, shows that Taylor was actually the opposite of aware, comfortable, or on board with the whole thing. Firstly, it’s clear that Kanye never ran the use of “that bitch” past Taylor and we even hear Kanye request Taylor to release his video on her personal Twitter account.

The response to this from Swift is very perceptible discomfort. What we finally find here in this sludge of celebrities having no moral compass is a woman who feels powerless in the shadow of a man who keeps trying to barge into her life periodically and shape her narrative at his obnoxious whim.

It is clear to see that this powerlessness is what gives birth to the ‘Reputation’ tour as well as ‘The Man’. The angst is palpable as is the discomfort in the phone call.

TayTay, you have us on your team, finally, after all.
