‘WAP’ Continues Its Powerful Streak on the Hot 100

WAP continues its reign on the Hot 100

Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion continue their reign of the Billboard Hot 100 rankings. Their viral sensation, ‘WAP’, lands atop the chart for a fourth time, marking their fourth non-consecutive No. 1 on the ranking. Further, the track has managed to rake in massive streaming numbers, weeks after its release, surpassing 82 million streams this week.

‘WAP’: Roaring Success

‘WAP’, which landed on the music scene on the 7th of August, 2020, made waves instantly. In a matter of time, the track took over the internet, giving rise to another Tik Tok challenge, and became Gen Z’s new anthem. But, the song’s success doesn’t just end with millennial fame. The track has gone on to dominate charts world over, including the UK Songs Chart.

As per the latest rankings, ‘WAP’ has also scored a No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 chart this week, too, making it the top scorer for all the weeks since the chart’s establishment. In addition, it comes in hot at No. 2 on the Billboard Global 200 (Excl. US), rising up 3-2 from last week’s rankings.

BTS Are Close Contenders

But, Cardi and Megan aren’t the only ones enjoying steady success on this week’s Hot 100 rankings. South Korean pop giants, BTS, continue their stay at No.2 on this week’s chart, marking their fourth week on the roster with ‘Dynamite’. In addition, they catch up to No.1 on the Billboard Global 200 (Excl. US) ranking, surpassing ‘WAP’. And, they also secure the second spot on the Global 200, falling right behind ‘WAP’ by a close margin.

Other Hot 100 Apperances

And, what’s more – this week’s Hot 100 mentions are a striking mirror of last week’s chart rankings. Familiar faces make their landing. Drake and Lil Durk’s ‘Laugh Now Cry Later’ arrives at No. 3. And, joining them at No. 4 is another rap collaboration – DaBaby and Roddy Ricch with ‘Rockstar’. At No. 5 is The Weeknd with the disco-pop smash hit ‘Blinding Lights’, marking the longest stay in the Top 5 of the Hot 100 for any artist in the chart’s history.

In addition, other appearances are marked by Harry Styles’ summer banger, ‘Watermelon Sugar’, Jason Derulo’s ‘Savage Love’, and more.
