Tones & I Shifts Gears With Hopeful New Anthem ‘Fly Away’

The past few weeks have witnessed a number of artists return to the scene with sparkling new tracks. From Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X to a whole string of buzzing tunes from the K-world – we’ve been fed very well. And adding to that steadily growing mix is none other than the Australian sensation, Tones & I.

The star just resurfaced with a fresh single titled, ‘Fly Away’. The track is stacked full with all the right elements to make it quite the empowering anthem. From a gospel infused chorus to tinkling production elements and the star’s impressive range – it doesn’t take much for the song to raise your spirits.

In fact, interestingly enough, ‘Fly Away’ sees Tones & I adopt a completely new style, one that takes a firm step away from her previous work. The songwriting on this track sees the star dip into ideas of self-acceptance and choosing to grow into your own person, rather than following the flock. Here, take a look:

Standing on the line I was given
People staring at me while I’m here
No one seems to think that I fit in
But I don’t wanna be like them
I had a dream that someday
I would just fly, fly away

Tones & I Inspires Growth

The visualizer for ‘Fly way’ proves to be a feel-good treat. We watch as a number of people make their way to an enchanting, foggy booth which holds the sign, ‘Your Biggest Dreams’. And as they seat themselves within this booth, we catch a glimpse of all their dreams. From unfolding love stories, to newly forged friendships to moments of freedom – the music video captures the theme of this track beautifully.

Speaking of the ruling theme, Tones & I explained, “This song is inspired by the way I thought I would feel versus the way I actually feel. I think that’s very powerful, at least to me.”

“It’s about genuine happiness and what we think we need to have happiness versus what we actually want. The truth is we only ever want anything because we think it will make us happy, but it’s never that simple.”
