The Weeknd is Apparently a Virgin

The Weeknd just revealed to the world that he is, afterall, a virgin. Or did he?

The R&B superstar, just featured on Episode 17 on popular American sitcom ‘American Dad’ as himself, and The Weeknd’s persona has taken us all by surprise. The TV show is known for its crass, adult, American humor and has enjoyed a successful 15-year broadcasting run.

Following in the footsteps of The Simpsons and Family Guy, the show often features celebrities, actors and musicians as characters on the show, playing around with the idea of the public image and persona.

The starboy has clearly been quite thrilled about this project, taking to his Twitter to post endless snippets from the show.

The Weeknd was creatively involved in the characterisation of his role in the episode. In an interview about the project, he revealed: “I always wanted to play a character that was the opposite of the public’s perception of me—and of course make fun of myself. Once I was given the opportunity I took complete advantage.”
He’s still his suave, cool self, serenading us with some new music as well. In one track titled “I’m a Virgin”, he sings the lines “And I know you, you can’t believe it’s true/ But I’m man enough to say to you// I’m a virgin.”

This new project comes not too long after the Weeknd dropped his latest album, ‘After Hours’. Quite a few tracks on the album saw raging success on the charts. In fact, more recently, his hit, ‘Heartless’ even received a remix from Lil Uzi Vert. So, despite not getting too much of a breather, it’s nice to see him try his hand at something new.

The animation, stylisation and overall parody-vibe of the song will leave you in splits. Check it out for yourself here:
