The Weeknd Has A Treat In Store Post Quarantine

Despite all the madness 2020 has witnessed, there’s no denying that this year has been graced by some brilliant new albums. And it’s comforting to know that there’s more to come, much more. The month of October has already promised new records from BLACKPINK, Sam Smith, TXT and a number of other stars. But when this artist announced a possible new album, noone saw it coming. The star in question is none other than The Weeknd.

So, Does The Weeknd Have A New Album In The Works?

In a recent interview, he confirmed, “I might have another album ready to go by the time this quarantine is over.” But there’s no telling whether this project is a follow-up to “After Hours” or something entirely different. The Weeknd himself is still navigating these waters, “I’m guilty of wanting to outdo my last album. But it’s never like, ‘I’ve got to do the same type of song.’ I’m so happy I’m not like that. My palette is so wide,” he confessed.

Speaking of “After Hours”, it’s been almost six months since the album dropped and despite that, the buzz around this project is yet to die down. “It might not be my best album,” The Weeknd admitted, before continuing, “It might not be what people gravitate towards the most in the future. Hopefully it is. But to me, it’s definitely my most perfect album. I could go back and listen to it and be like, ‘I’ve got no notes for this, really.’ ”

The Weeknd also dished out that he wrote a “secretive screenplay,” but offered no other details on this cryptic statement. The star’s always wanted to find a space for himself in the film industry and perhaps he’s in the process of forging a path to the big screen.  “I’m trying to find a perfect balance with the film and the music, and so far it’s going really well,” he claimed, “I think I might have cracked the code.”

Circling back to his new album, The Weeknd did promise that he would explore an entirely different universe with this record. Whether it will be charged with the emotional intensity powering “After Hours”, we’ll just have to wait and see.
