BTS Rapper Suga and IU Release New Song “Eight”

Suga of BTS and leading K-Pop songstress IU have released their anticipated digital single ‘eight’ and fans are freaking out.

News of the collaboration arrived late last week, when agencies of both artists confirmed that Suga (resident rapper of BTS) and IU would be putting out a collaboration. The news also confirmed that Suga participated in the production of the track. IU also had a heavy hand in the song-writing and composition.

This track marks IU’s return to music after her last major album release with the album “Pallette” back in 2017. The songstress kept busy with a breakthrough acting role in the TV drama “Hotel De Luna” and promotions for the same. BTS, too, have been making good use of the Lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic, engaging with fans on social media, hosting LIVE specials and participating in virtual concerts. So, it seems, that the collaboration has come at the perfect time.

IU (looking as angelic as ever), starts off the song complete with familiar pop arrangements. High on up-tempo beats, and a pleasant acoustic backing track, IU’s voice is perfectly complimented by the production. The comforting track is completed with the warmth of Suga’s rap – a verse reminiscent of his part in the BTS track ‘Mikrokosmos’.

The music video combines reality and animation, creating a world of its own. Fans have been drawn into the optimism of the song, garnering positive reaction world over. One BTS fan said:

While another excitedly said:

Suga of BTS too showed his support on Twitter:

Early reactions predict that the track will top digital charts all over Korea, and honestly, would you expect much less? This collaboration marks Suga’s fifth collaboration with a female musician, independent of his work with BTS.
