Subhi Unveils New, Reflective Single: ‘Wake Me Up’

Subhi releases 'Wake Me Up'

Indo-American singer-songwriter, Subhi, just released a brand new single. And, in line with being the singer’s quarantine baby, the track is aptly reflective. Detailing some of her deepest questions and fears, Subhi sings to an arrangement of stripped down pop-acoustics.

Unlike her previous efforts, ‘Wake Me Up’, is a succinct and dramatic pop track. On it, Subhi sings of wanting to be “pulled out of the dark”. Further, in a recent interview, she said of the music-making process: “It’s a song that is very relevant as many people must be feeling the way I do. I felt the story needed to be told as we all want to be ‘pulled out from the dark’.” Further, of her evolution during the pandemic, she said, “This year I finally found the balance, my sound and wanted to share my English songs with the world”.

The Chicago-based songwriter released her first English single, ‘In My Way’, back in October. And, with that Subhi began her descent into the upcoming 5-track EP she’s got lined up for fans. The project, up for release soon, features tracks about love, the pandemic and everything in between. She said, “Each song is very personal to me and has a story to tell. I feel everyone will be able to relate to this project because the songs talk about love, the pandemic, multicultural identities, and finding yourself in all of it.”

‘Wake Me Up’ by Subhi is now available on all streaming platforms.
