Pharrell was joined by a choir for an awe-inspiring live performance of “Letter to my Godfather”. They showcased a glorious rendition of the song that’s dedicated to legendary music executive, Clarence Avant and appears in his Netflix documentary, The Black Godfather.

The black godfather is a Netflix show that depicts the life of the legendary Avant’s rise to fame and his claim of the title ‘The godfather of black music’. The series also features interviews with Snoop Dogg and Obama! Okay, that’s enough spoilers for one day!

“Clarence Avant connects us all through his incredible impact since before I was born up until now,” Pharrelle said in a statement about the song. “He’s the godfather to so many of us — and not just African Americans, most of the industry.”

Pharrell led the choir superbly, he even did his signature move on stage as the choir lifted their voices and hands to match his energy! There wasn’t a dry eye in the room and we certainly weren’t crying. Okay maybe just a bit.
