One Direction sees massive spike in numbers

One Direction may continue to be on a hiatus, but their sales and streaming numbers continue to grow, limitless. The British-Irish boy group celebrated their momentous 10th anniversary last month, on the 23rd of July. Following the emotional, global celebration, the group’s sales numbers have seen a significant spike, as reported by Billboard.

One Direction Rakes in Big Numbers

According to the Official Charts Company, One Direction generated 25 million streams in the few days that led up to their anniversary. Following the anniversary, the group’s music was streamed continuously, with a few albums in particular peaking in streams. In a trip down memory lane, the group’s debut album, “Up All Night” saw the biggest spike – a 135% hike in sales. In addition, their second studio album, “Take Me Home”, saw a rise in streaming numbers, with a 99% spike.

Further, their most downloaded album in the period following their 10th anniversary was their LP, “Midnight Memories“. The project rose by a 106% hike. And, “Four” – their last album featuring bandmate Zayn Malik, stacked a 92% hike across formats. In addition, their last album as a band, “Made in the AM” now boasts a 98% rise.

One Direction Singles Are Gold

And, joining this extravagance of numbers, is One Direction’s smash hit single, ‘What Makes You Beautiful’. The track was streamed 1.4 million times. Further, their emotional fan favourite, ‘History’ remains their most downloaded song in the two-week period following the 10th anniversary.

One Direction’s 10th anniversary was a mega celebration all over the world. While fans met with heartfelt messages from the members themselves, the Directioner fandom, too, united in their own personal celebration.
