Lil Wayne Releases Updated Green Bay Packers Song

Lil Wayne has released a new version of his song ‘Green and Yellow’. The song was meant to be a tribute to the Green Bay Packers – his beloved American football team.

“I did a song before and we had a good turnout. It was successful. We had good results, and we’re going to try to do it again this time,” he said to a news source.

A True Packers Fan!

Lil Wayne says he has been a Packers fan ever since the football team beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl XXXI. The rapper’s father attended the game and brought home a bunch of Packers merchandise for his family. Lil Wayne announced the release of the song on Twitter and so did the Green Bay Packers.

According to sources, Lil Wayne released this new version at the request of the Green Bay Packers. Fans are hoping that history will repeat itself and that the American Football team will win this year’s Super Bowl. The sports fan reportedly released a new version of his 2011 hype song, “Green and Yellow,” in honour of the Green Bay Packers’ playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Lil Wayne stated that he finished working on the song in less than a week. “I worked on it for three days, too. I don’t do that,” he said on a talk show. The rapper added that he wanted Packers players “to hear it and be ready to run through a wall”. ‘Green and Yellow’ references many of the team’s players and within the first hour of sharing a teaser of the song to his Instagram page, Lil Wayne received nearly 200K likes alone.

Impending Trial

Last year in December, Lil Wayne pled guilty to a federal firearms charge relating to a December 2019 incident. Wayne was arrested for illegal possession of a handgun during a flight on his private jet from California to Florida. He is set to appear in court on January 28, 2021, facing a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

We hope Wayne stays free and continues to create music, like this.
