When people aren’t happy about something, where do they go to voice their opinion? These days, it’s mostly the internet. And, that’s happened. There’s so much criticism for the music video of ‘Montero’ by Lil Nas X. And, look like the singer isn’t going to let any of it sit down, he’s all up for defending himself.
Fans must have loved the track and also the music video, however, there are many that think the video is very inappropriate. We mean, what were they expecting to see after Lil Nas X’s promotion posts for the song?
In the music video, Lil Nas X wanders from the Garden of Eden to Greece, before he pole dances into hell, where he’s seen giving a lap dance to Satan and then he kills Lucifer. It’s pretty intense, but what isn’t these days? Haven’t we had enough of criticising ‘WAP’ by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion to know better by now?
Lil Nas X is just trying to portray being a man who’s not afraid of the afterlife as long as he dies happily. The singer accepts his sexuality to an extent that he’s alright to descend into hell. Now if this isn’t a powerful message, what even is?
All The Criticism For ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’
Some spoke about how most of the audience that consumes Lil Nas X’s music is the children and for them to see something like this, must be horrible. Some also pointed out that the visuals only lead to corrupting the minds of people. So Lil Nas had to speak out, didn’t he?
He started by talking about the governments, which have put fewer efforts into stopping mass shootings. Then he moved to defend himself on the topic of ‘children‘, from there he spoke about his sexuality and the hate he’s received over the years to finally saying sorry but in the most savage way!
This truly has hit home for Lil Nas X because the venting seems so real! We feel him, well, maybe the world needs to become a tad bit more open-minded or artists will just have to curb their creativity. Do we want that?
