Former bassist of legendary rock band Nirvana, Krist Novoselic, has drawn criticism after praising Donald Trump in a public Facebook post.

Krit Novoselic took to Facebook to praise US President, Donald Trump, following his speech at a press conference on the 1st of June. In his speech, which has since been condemned by many US citizens, Trump called himself a “law and order President”, stating that he will mobilize military forces to maintain civility, if need be. This statement was made amid the demonstrations taking place in the US for George Floyd.

In his post, Krist Novoselic praised Trump’s speech saying: “Trump knocked it out of the park with his speech. His tone in this speech is strong and direct”. He prefaced the post with the words: “I know many of you can’t stand him, however…”.

Krist Novoselic went on to debate the state of politics in the US right now, saying: “Imagine if so-called “patriot-militias” were raising this kind of hell? If this were the case, left wing people would welcome federal intervention”.

Twitterati have exploded at the bassist’s statement and opinions, juxtaposing past statements made by Kurt Cobain with Novoselic’s present day remarks.

Krist Novoselic has since made his Facebook page private, and hasn’t responded to comments following the post.
