Kickstart 2021 With A David Bowie Tribute Concert

The Hollywood superstars are all set to tribute the one and only, David Bowie in a live stream concert. The concert is called “A Bowie Celebration: Just for One Day”. The virtual concert will stream on January 8th at 6 p.m PT and 9 p.m ET.

The event is produced by Bowie’s former pianist Mike Garson, called “A Bowie Celebration: Just for One Day!”. The event comes almost exactly five years ever since the singer’s death.

The all-star lineup includes performances by Boy George, Ricky Gervais, Taylor Momsen, Gary Barlow, Adam Lambert, Andra Day and Duran Duran. A special new supergroup, Ground Control that features Dave Navarro from the alternative rock band Jane’s Addiction, Chris Chaney, Corey Taylor and Taylor Hawkins from the Foo Fighters will be joining the already existing lineup that boasts of top-notch artists.

The event will feature comedian Ricky Gervais and Academy Award winner Gary Oldman as part of the streaming special. A band of musicians, all of who have worked with Bowie through their careers will anchor the show. Bowie’s childhood friend, Peter Frampton, Saxophonist David Sanborn, keyboardist Rick Wakeman have been added to the lineup.

Going by a press statement, ‘A Bowie Celebration: Just for One Day!’ will prove to be an experience that will be talked about for years. The source noted that the artists will perform “stirring and brand new renditions of Bowie’s greatest hits alongside treasured fan favourites.”


Duran Duran has announced a cover of Bowie’s track, ‘Five Years’. The track is the opener of the legend’s classic album, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. It will release on 8th January and is available to pre-save now.

Grab your tickets to the concert right away. They are on sale and $2 from every purchase will go towards making a donation to Save the Children. The organisation was supported by funds raised by Bowie from his 50th birthday concert. The event was held in 1997 at the Madison Square Garden. The show will be available to watch for 24 hours after the initial stream to the viewers.
