Khalid & Victoria Monet Team Up For A Brand New Track

Amid these difficult times, artists are putting out new music to the world, in the hopes of bringing comfort and some cheer to listeners. And now, Khalid and Victoria Monet are joining the mix. The duo recently took to social media to announce that they’ve got a brand new song in the pipeline. 

Titled, ‘Experience’, Monet had a lot to say about this tune, “To be honest, we’ve gone back and forth about releasing this song because of the disgusting and confusing state of the world. After a lot of thinking and feeling, we decided to continue with the plan to put it out, so we want to give some context on why.”

The star went on to describe music as “a form of escapism”. “This song, though deep in subject matter, sonically simply feels joyful and celebratory. It’s important to us to highlight and celebrate Black joy and love in the middle of so much pain and trauma.”

This tune will also arrive just in time to celebrate Pride month. Over the past few days, we’ve witnessed musicians showing their support for the LGBTQ community through music, illustrations and heartwarming messages on social media. Noting that June is both Black Music Month and Pride Month, Monet explained that she feels “my queer identity is another important celebration for me.” She went on to say that both the LGBTQ+ and the Black community “share the inspiring persistence in the relentless pursuit to be heard and seen, especially in difficult times like these.”

Khalid, Victoria Monet and Their Fabulous Collab History

Khalid’s last collaboration with Disclosure witnessed roaring success. In fact, ‘Know Your Worth’ still hasn’t left charts around the globe, even though it released in early 2020.  A little after that, Khalid went on to put out yet another ethereal, gentle tune titled, ‘Wildflower’. The song spoke of hope and a promise that this difficult period would pass. 

Monet, also witnessed an extremely successful collab in the latter half of 2019. Her track with Ariana Grande, titled, ‘Monopoly’ was received well. Now, this upcoming track marks the former Fifth Harmony member’s very first collab with Khalid. 

The star concluded her message on Instagram with this heartwarming line, “We hope this brings some solace and joy to you. We hope the double ended message of this song is heard: based on experience, we want change!” 

‘Experience’ is slated to drop this Friday, so keep an eye out.
