Kanye West Has A New Track ‘Believe What I Say’ In The Works

Kanye West just resurfaced with news of a fresh release. He teased a snippet of a brand new track titled, ‘Believe What I Say’. There’s a possibility that this song will find a space on the rapper’s upcoming album, “Donda”. Though this record is yet to claim an official release date. 

Kanye took to Twitter to break the news, by sharing a brief clip of the track. Now, the song actually samples Lauryn Hill’s 1998 hit ‘Doo Wop (That Thing)’. Featuring a mellow set of beats and a calming melody, the 38 second clip gives us a firm taste of the track. The brief visualizer captures the sun setting, from within a boat, presumably shot by Kanye himself. 

As the track unravels, we hear the rapper sing, “You ask him to feel protected/ And still feel protected,” West raps on the song. “Just one time for the record/ Just one time for the record/ Don’t agree with the message/ Don’t agree with the methods.”

Kanye West Refuses To Back Down

There’s no clarity as to when this song will drop as Kanye is currently navigating through some murky waters. The star is still entrenched in an ongoing battle with some big companies. Just last week, the rapper put out a scathing tweet that read, “not putting no more music out till I’m done with my contract with Sony and Universal.” In a more recent interview, he referred to these labels confessing, “I don’t want them to just fix my situation. I want this to be about fixing everyone’s situation.”

Over the past few weeks, Kanye has taken to social media to share scanned copies of his contracts. He’s been pushing for a change in the guidelines. The artist backed his stance with a statement that read, “Everyone knows this is a broken system that needs to be fixed. Currently, artists take advances to make records and yet when they repay those advances the record company still owns the records. Imagine a bank lending you money to buy a house and then when you’ve repaid that mortgage, them telling you they still own it.”

While this battle rages on, it looks like the wait for ‘Believe What I Say’ has only just begun.
