Here’s Why You Don’t Mess with Lizzo

On the list of things one should definitely not do, is getting on Lizzo’s bad side. The star recently found herself knee-deep in a rather unpleasant situation: an unnamed landlord kicked her and her five friends out of their vacation rental halfway through their stay. And as they say in the movies, for Lizzo, it was payback time.

The Grammy-winning star took to Instagram to leave behind a video, which was all sorts of fierce and unapologetic. “This is for the man that kicked me out of my 7-day rental 3 days early yesterday,” Lizzo wrote alongside a video of herself twerking near a poolside in a red swimsuit and matching mesh cover-up. “This is for mocking the way that I dance and for using Instagram footage of me and my 6 black homegirls to say that we could ‘hurt him’ and threaten to call the police. I know you’re watching my page so I just want you to know you can’t stop this black girls’ shine. Thanks for kicking us out cus this house is better anyways. Xoxo,” she ended her clapback, by giving him the bird.

In a lead up to this scathing post, Lizzo shared a selfie, of the gals havin’ a riot of a time. The star also reassured her 9.1 million followers that all six ladies had been tested for coronavirus prior to their trip.

“We all took the responsibility to get covid tests and luckily we’re all negative. Please be safe and wear your masks,” Lizzo captioned the video, making sure to also link a federal database of community-based testing sites in her caption, urging her fans to “find covid tests near you.”

Lizzo has always been one for body-positivity, not shying away from posting revealing photographs across her social media platforms. And yet, for doing so, she has attracted a lot of unnecessary hate and judgement. But each and every time, she has made sure not to let someone’s harsh comments slide.

Honestly, it’s high time people just let the girl have her fun.
