Harry Styles’ First Hot 100 #1: ‘Watermelon Sugar’

Harry Styles' First Hot 100 Win: Watermelon Sugar

Singer-songwriter, Harry Styles, has officially scored his first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Styles, who has been riding a massive wave of success following the release of his 2019 album, “Fine Line”, just notched another win on the music charts. His hit single, ‘Watermelon Sugar’, has scored the singer’s first career No.1 on the Hot 100 chart, months after its release.

‘Watermelon Sugar’ Does the Trick

For all the social media Sherlocks out there, it’s possible that you’ve been privy to the recent streaming activity surrounding ‘Watermelon Sugar’. And, well, fans’ efforts have paid off as the track surged to the top of the charts following major streaming gains in the past few weeks. The offbeat, light rock summer anthem has been one of Harry’s more accessible tracks, reaching out to audiences world over. In addition, fans recently even celebrated an unofficial ‘Watermelon Sugar Day’.

The track features on Styles’ 2019 album, ‘Fine Line’. Upon release, the album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, making it Harry’s second solo, consecutive album to score a No.1  on the chart. Further, ‘Watermelon Sugar’ marks the album’s second Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. The second single, ‘Adore You’ managed to debut and peak at No. 6 on the chart.

In addition, this No. 1 makes Harry Styles the second member of One Direction to land atop the Hot 100 chart. He follows Zayn Malik’s 2016 win with ‘Pillowtalk’. Further, One Direction now lists as one of the few groups in music history to have multiple members score a No. 1 Hot 100 hit.

Styles’ Hot 100 Company

And, joining Harry on this week’s Hot 100 are Roddy Ricch and DaBaby (‘Rockstar’ at No. 2) and Billie Eilish, whose ‘my future’ debuts at No. 6 on the chart. Further, The Weeknd holds on strong as ‘Blinding Lights’ lands at No. 4 this week. Taylor Swift comes in at No. 8 with ‘cardigan’, as the track descends from its No. 1 score last week.
