Elton John Hosts First-Ever Virtual Oscar Viewing Party

For the past 28 years, Sir Elton John has thrown a spectacular party each time after the Academy Awards. All the who’s who of Hollywood attend this mega night of celebration and the proceeds from the event go to the singer’s AIDS foundation. But this year, the pandemic forced the pop singer to switch things around a little bit as the fundraiser was moved to an online platform.

A Star Studded Zoom Meeting

The event was hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, who has hosted the Oscars once before and is also a very close friend of John’s. Global pop star Dua Lipa delivered an orchestral arrangement for ‘Don’t start now’ and ‘Levitating’ as well as a set from her Grammy-winning album Future Nostalgia. Other guests for the night were Lady Gaga, Cynthia Erivo, Dr. Anthony Fauci, comedian David Walliams, Elizabeth Hurley and the cast of It’s a Sin including Olly Alexander, Nathaniel Curtis, Omari Douglas, Callum Scott Howells, and Lydia West.

Oh and also, did we mention that the party was open to the public this time? ( Provided you bought the ticket of course!)

Cynthia Erivo donned a beautiful swan-inspired outfit for the night. Looks like the virtual event did not stop the stars from going full glam with their attires!
