Ed Sheeran Has A New Partner in Crime: Russell Crowe

Never in our wildest dreams did we think we’d hear Russell Crowe and Ed Sheeran in the same sentence, but 2020 has proven to be quite a crazy year so…anything is possible.

So, here’s why this bizarre pair have been creating a buzz. On the Late Late Show, host James Corden asked his Oscar-winning guest to share a prized possession that the crowd wouldn’t typically get to see.

And boy, Crowe had come prepared with quite the gem. He pulled out a Grammy Award given to the legends: Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Roy Orbison for their Class of ’55 album. He got a hold of this baby at a public art auction.

Now, it’s not so much this possession that takes the spotlight but rather, the events surrounding it. Crowe dished out all the details on a special moment he and one of his close friends shared with the trophy.

Ed [Sheeran] has been here on the farm a couple of times and one night we’re in the bar and he asked me where is that Grammy of Johnny Cash,” he said. “I went and got it and he said, ‘You know what we do with Grammys?'”

If this were a film, imagine a freeze frame, right on Ed’s face. The award winning actor then revealed, that Ed Sheeran simply began pouring a Jack Daniels into Cash’s Grammy, before proceeding to do shots.

With wide eyes, Cordon concluded, that he would tuck away this very special, rather bizarre story, forever.

Alright, now it’s time to rewind a tad bit for those of you who are just learning that Ed Sheeran and Russell Crowe are, well, dare we say…BFFs?

In an older interview, Ed once did throw some light on their friendship. He explained: “I’ve started hanging out with Russell Crowe because he loves getting drunk and I love getting drunk. We don’t get anything from each other, other than just a night out. We get an enjoyment of hanging out rather…There is no boost in either of our careers from our association.”

The pair met back in February 2015 when Russell presented him with the British Album of the Year trophy at the BRIT Awards. And since then, this rather odd, yet wonderfully wholesome relationship blossomed.

So, now you know to keep an eye out for drunk stories involving Ed and Crowe, because boy, are they ridiculously entertaining.
