Dua Lipa Makes History, Takes Over the Billion Stream Club

Dua Lipa breaks another record

Dua Lipa is back in the business of breaking records. According to the latest streaming numbers, the singer has officially become the only female artist in Spotify history to have 4 songs with over 1 billion streams. Her tracks ‘New Rules’, ‘One Kiss’, ‘IDGAF’ and ‘Don’t Start Now’, have managed to clock in over 1 billion streams since their individual releases.

In addition to this impressive feat, the singer also finds herself on the list of Most Streamed Songs on Spotify, making her the only female artist to have four songs on the list. As per the list, ‘New Rules’ stands at No. 18, ‘One Kiss’ ft. Calvin Harris at No. 76, with ‘IDGAF’ coming in at No. 93 and her latest, ‘Don’t Start Now’, standing strong at No. 99. 

Further, Dua Lipa joins an elite club of billion streamers marked by artists who have more than 1 song to achieve a billion streams to their name, accompanied by Post Malone (7 songs), Ed Sheeran (5 songs), Justin Bieber (4 songs) and The Weeknd (4 songs).

Dua Thanks Her Fans

In celebration of the news, Dua Lipa took to Twitter to share a touching statement of gratitude. The tweet reads: ” thank you to every single one of you listening to my music. I’m happy these songs find a home with you and I feel lucky to even be able to think that some of these songs even soundtrack ur day.” And in an unexpected turn of events, she shared some exciting news: “I have something really exciting coming for you guys soon that i’ve been keeping a BIG secret and I can’t wait to show ya!”  

And, in all possibility, the singer was possibly referring to her upcoming star collaboration with J Balvin and Bad Bunny. The artists took to their social media to tease a 30-seconder of their upcoming song ‘Un Dia’ or ‘One Day’, slated for release on the 23rd of July, 8 PM EST.
