DaBaby Asks You to ‘Blame It On Baby’

Two years, two albums — DaBaby is not resting and you’d be a fool to think this lockdown would slow him down. Jonathan Kirk, had his claim to fame with his first two fast and slow hit albums — ‘Baby on Baby’ and ‘KIRK’. This Saturday he drops ‘Blame It On Baby’ and I have a feeling, the blame game is going to be easy on this one.

This 13-track album is full of his signature moves and some new ones too. ‘NASTY’ for example comes in with a sample of Ashanti’s ‘Baby’ sampled. It features Megan Thee Stallion and has a definite Ludacris feel to it. But what really stands out in the album is the namesake song ‘Blame It On Baby’. It jumps off a cliff and I don’t think it lands at all, keeps you on your toes and guessing till the very end. ‘Find My Way’ comes before you jump to the title track and there you will find a slower pace to DaBaby’s life; the hooks and jabs become more like hugs and kisses, and we’re not complaining.

We’re still here to see if we find competition for ‘BOP’ and ‘VIBEZ’ here but I suspect that we’d have to be rather patient, traversing through flows that change pace and lyrics that tire after a ride around the block.

You can find the music on all major streaming services, so give it a spin and let us know!
