BTS Surpass Adele, Scoring Most #1s in iTunes History

BTS reigns supreme yet again

BTS leave us no space to breathe, as they set a brand new world record with their hit single, ‘Black Swan‘.

Earlier today, media reports stated that BTS have officially scored the most No. 1s in iTunes history, surpassing Adele. Their single, ‘Black Swan’, from the album “Map of the Soul: 7” has reached No. 1 on iTunes in 103 countries. This record was previously held by pop superstar Adele, whose smash hit single, ‘Hello’, reached No. 1 on iTunes in 102 countries.

In light of the news, BTS currently occupy three worldwide trends on Twitter. The hashtags – #DidOurThing (a play on the song’s lyrics), #BTSiTunesRecord and #BlackSwan103 continue to to trend, courtesy of the group’s support system, the BTS ARMY.

Many fans have taken to social media to congratulate the boys, pointing out the magnitude of this record. Over the past year, BTS has surpassed several iconic pop artists, creating new histories with each achievement. They recently beat Michael Jackson’s 36 year-year long record on the Japanese Oricon Music Chart. They have also broken The Beatle’s 22-year long record, becoming the fastest group to generate four No. 1 albums in the US.

This record also holds a certain sentimental value, as pointed out by fans. ‘Black Swan’ sees BTS talking about the downsides of fame. Exploring the fear of losing their love for music, and the anxiety that comes with the vicious cycle of the art and the artist, the group has ironically cemented their place in the music industry.
