BTS Finally Joins YouTube’s One Billion Club with ‘DNA’

Leading up to their debut anniversary, BTS have been showering their fans with endless gifts as a part of Festa 2020. The festivities began just yesterday, where the boys released a special tropical version of their hit track, Airplane pt. 2, which was shot during their Summer Package trip to Saipan. The boys hae promised new choreography videos, even more goofy-glorious photoshoots and brand new song, or two.

But amid all the celebrations, their fans, ARMY, have decided to give back in the sweetest way ever. And so, today, BTS have finally joinedYouTube’s one billion club with their music video for ‘DNA’. This song featured in their 2017 album, ‘Love Yourself: Her. And now, it looks like BTS have made history with this very tune. Joining the one billion club is no small feat and this makes BTS the first Kpop boy-group to make it this far.

It’s no surprise that the video garnered so much attention. Much like their other music videos, this one’s a visual treat. Featuring the boys in funky casual wear, colliding galaxies and vast sets – the video drags fans into a whole other world. The tune also arrives with the intention of sweeping you off your feet. From its catchy hooks and light beats to the husky verses and gorgeous falsettos – the song shines from start to finish.

Who Made it Before BTS?

Now, interestingly enough, when it comes to YouTube’s one billion club, someone reached there before BTS. And they go by the name, BLACKPINK. The four-member girl group was the first K-pop group to hit the one billion views mark in November 2019 with their infectious tune, ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’. BLACKPINK are one of the few Kpop girl-groups that have managed to make it to the global stage. In fact, just recently they notched a stellar collab with Lady Gaga for the track, ‘Sour Candy’. And so, we can safely say that after this, even more success will follow for them.

Anyway, now back to BTS. Before you run off to give ‘DNA’ yet another watch, let us remind you that the boys will also  be a part of Dear Class of 2020. This is a virtual graduation ceremony hosted by Michelle Obama. We’ll most probably get to hear a commencement speech and even see a performance from them, if we’re lucky. This is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 7th June. So, mark your calendars!
