Brace Yourselves: Kanye West is Running For President

2020 truly does not seem to be leaving us with a minute to catch our breath. This time around, it’s none other than Kanye West, creating ripples across the world with his latest announcement.

Alright, here’s what went down: Kanye West just took to Twitter to announce that he plans to run for president this year — potentially to make good on a promise he made five years ago, during the 2015 MTV VMAs.

“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States,” West tweeted, leaving the world stunned.

Kanye West & Politics: A Strange Rollercoaster Ride

Having leaned more into politics in recent years, including a handful of meetings with President Donald Trump, West has never shied away from speaking his mind.

Now, if his meeting with President Donald Trump has piqued your interest, well, we’ll dish out those details too. West and his wife visited Trump in the White House to discuss prison reform. At a slightly more strange meeting in 2018, Kanye West said a number of questionable things, including, the fact that Trump made him feel like Superman. West even went on to hug the President before declaring, “I love this guy right here.”

Anyway, back to his announcement, did you really think that story was over? There’s one juicy bit we’ve left out: the CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk, immediately jumped at the opportunity, proudly tweeting out, “You have my full support!”

Now West, who recently put out his stunning, political single, ‘Wash us In The Blood,’ seems to have dropped this bomb and disappeared. We have no further information on whether West has filed any paperwork necessary to run for president, this election year. So, until we hear more from the star himself, we’ve got to sit tight.
