Bob Dylan to Be Immortalised

When it comes to actors playing the role of musicians on the big screen, the choice of actor is extremely important. Especially if you’re playing a legend like Bob Dylan. But, it looks like they’ve picked the perfect person to play him: the one and only Timothée Chalamet. Chalamet is currently in talks to portray Bob Dylan in the forthcoming biopic titled, Going Electric. This one’s going to track Dylan’s rise from a Greenwich Village folk singer to rock king.

But there’s certainly a lot of pressure when it comes to making a biopic about such a legendary man. After all, Dylan’s been a major figure in popular culture for more than fifty years. Much of his most celebrated work dates from the 1960s, when songs such as “Blowin’ in the Wind” and “The Times They Are a-Changin” became anthems for the civil rights movement and anti-war movement. Dylan’s transition to an electric rocker in the mid-1960s, was a blasphemous move. But, luckily for us, he was able to ignore all the negativity and just push forward to create some groundbreaking music.

And yet, the good news is that this film’s going to be directed by Ford v Ferrari’s James Mangold, so we already know we’re in good hands!

Chalamet will join a pantheon of actors who have previously portrayed Dylan, including Cate Blanchette, Christian Bale, Richard Gere, and many others. In fact, back in 2018, even the ‘Call Me By Your Name’ director, Luca Guadagnino, was planning to turn Dylan’s 1975 classic, ‘Blood on the Tracks’ into a film.

While there’s no confirmation on whether Chalamet has taken the role, sources say that he has already started guitar lessons…so that kind of speaks for itself, doesn’t it?
