Big Sean Scores Third No. 1

Rapper, Big Sean, reigns supreme on this week’s Billboard 200 albums chart, as his latest studio album, ‘Detroit 2’ debuts at No. 1. According to the latest chart rankings, the 21-track album raked in 93.6 million on-demand streams in its streaming week. Further, it pushed 103,000 equivalent units in sales. 

And so, the album’s reception proves his longevity and relevance as an artist in today’s music scene. Further, this hot debut on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart marks his third consecutive No. 1 on the chart. His previous albums, “I Decided” and “Double or Nothing”, too debuted at No. 1 atop the chart. 

“Detroit 2” serves as the rapper’s follow up to his 2012 mixtape, “Detroit”. The project pays homage to the artist’s hometown in some ways. And, goes on to offer a first-time insight into Sean’s life, philosophy and principles as an artist. In addition, the project features big names like Eminem, Lil Wayne, Post Malone and more. Following positive reception and a fair amount of critical acclaim, Big Sean’s return to music has been a powerful one.

Acknowledging his chart wins, Sean took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the journey that led him to the release of this album. In the caption, he wrote: “I sacrificed my privacy, I put so many emotions and lessons I learned the hard way into this music and gave a honest glimpse into my heart!”

“Detroit 2”, Big Sean’s fifth studio album, is now available on all streaming platforms.
