Bassnectar Quits His Music Career: Accused of Sexual Misconduct

Bassnectar, the American DJ and record producer is “stepping back” from making music. Want to know why? Well, the news has come forward after he comes into the limelight for accusations of sexual misconduct against him. After the victims came forward, Lorin Ashton, the DJ’s real name, has taken no time to quit his career.

Bassnectar has denied the claims thrown at him. The allegations date back to 2015 however it’s only now that it’s resurfaced online. After an Instagram handle- Evidence Against Bassnector, revealed these accusations, the DJ quickly responded.

“I am stepping back from my career and I am stepping down from my position of power and privilege in this community because I want to take responsibility and accountability, I feel intense compassion for anyone I may have hurt. I truly hope you allow me a chance to work together toward healing.” said Bassnectar.

Wondering why the accusations came up all of a sudden? Well, Bassnector had disclosed the characteristics of his personal life on June 30, 2020 via a tweet. He claimed that his “own romantic relationships and interactions have been positive, consensual, legal and loving.” This triggered the accusers and hence, a handle got created to target various events in which he displayed the opposite behaviour against many underage girls.

Bassnectar has apologized for his actions in the past, “The rumors you are hearing are untrue, but I realize some of my past actions have caused pain, and I am deeply sorry, I am handing off our nonprofit ‘Be Interactive’ to a diverse team to continue without my involvement moving forward.” the DJ wrote.

Well, it might seem like a drastic step just to prove a point but I guess we can only find out more about this later on. He also explained, “Sometime in the future I may share more thoughts on these matters, but for now, please take care of each other and I wish you all the brightest future.”
