Ariana Grande Makes Music History with ‘Positions’

Ariana Grande poses for the 'Positions' era

Ariana Grande just made big moves with her brand new single, ‘Positions’. The track soared to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart earlier today, marking her fifth No. 1 debut atop the survey. But, that’s not the record-making that’s her landed on our radar today. The ‘Side to Side’ hitmaker has officially become the only artist in music history to have scored five consecutive No. 1 debuts.

Grande Scores Major ‘Positions’ on the Charts

Earlier today, as ‘Positions’ blasted to the top of the singles chart, Grande bagged major numbers in streaming and sales. The track sold 34,000 units and clocked 35.3 million streams in its debut week. And, landing at No. 1, Grande also scored her third consecutive top score on the survey, in the fastest time within a year, surpassing Travis Scott by a whisker’s breath. The latest single from Grande joins ‘Stuck With U’ and ‘Rain On Me’ as her third No. 1 single in 2020.

‘Positions’ joins ‘thank u, next’, ‘7 rings’, ‘Stuck With U’, and ‘Rain on Me’ as her fifth single to debut at No. 1 on the chart. And, with this, she surpassed Justin Bieber, Travis Scott, Mariah Carey and Drake as the artist with the most No. 1 debut; the former artists have three each to their name.

Primed for Success

Further, the singer scored big on the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global 200 (Excl. US) chart, too. The star just became the only artist to debut at No. 1 on both the recently established charts, simultaneously. ‘Positions’ found a cosy place atop the survey following its debut week cycle. In addition, the sixth studio album went on to make history on the Spotify US Top 50 charts. All 14 tracks from the album occupied the first 14 spots on the chart, simultaneously, marking a first in streaming history.

With massive records on multiple pop music charts and surveys world over, Grande and her giddy, trap-pop ode to love are primed for record extending success.
