A Star Is Born: Sia, A Gem Hidden Behind Wigs

Sia, the Australian singer-songwriter continues to be the mega-star of the music world. She has managed to make a big noise in the industry with her eight studio albums, six live albums, thirty-eight singles with at least forty two music videos and many features. Her music is a cocktail of hip hop, funk and soul and of course, her vocals are unattainable by anyone else. And, that’s what makes her, the star she is.

You’ve got songs from her which you can grind to, you’ve got tracks which can be the background music when your soul is tearing up and also songs that make you get up and get with-it. With a plethora of music, it’s so hard for one to pick her best but then that’s also because of the journey she’s had.

Being a nominee of two Golden Globe Awards, two Brit Awards, four World Music Awards and winning three NRJ Awards, one MTV VMA, ten ARIA Music Awards and ten APRA Music Awards, Sia is totally an achievement in herself. So, here’s to Sia and her unimaginable success story.

Where Did It All Start?

Sia Kate Isobelle Furler started her music career in the mids 1990s when she joined ‘Crisp’, a jazz band but soon, she went solo and dropped her first album, “OnlySee” in 1997. It wasn’t long before her second studio album, “Healing In Difficult” came out in 2002 and then, in 2004, “Colour the Small One” was out. And, then you know, you couldn’t stop her immense talent from flowing out. In 2008 and 2010, she released two albums “Some People Have Real Problems” and “We Are Born”, respectively. These albums brought her more recognition however, she decided to switch her track for a while and got into behind the scene.

Sia Turns Into A Songwriter

After she dropped her fourth and fifth studio album, Sia shifted her focus by writing songs and producing for other artists. From the likes of Beyonce, Britney Spears, Katy Perry and more, she was in demand as a songwriter. In totality, she’s written seventy-three songs for others, some of the famous one’s include ‘Diamonds’ by Rihanna, ‘Wild One’s’ by Flo Rida and ‘Titanium’ by David Guetta. It’s safe to say, she’s one of the best songwriters out there, with an uplifting chorus and brilliant usage of metaphors, her writing has a soul.

Sia Releases Her Ground-Breaking Albums

Well, if it wasn’t for her choosing to be back to performing and singing, we would have had to stop the list of releases right there. But in 2014, Sia came back by dropping her sixth studio album, “100 Forms of Fear”, it did well commercially and earned her the top positions on many charts. One can’t think of Sia and not think of her ‘Chandelier‘ track, which was the lead single from the album. The album insists people be vulnerable which will only make one stronger. Some great tracks from it are ‘Elastic Heart’ and ‘Fire Meet Gasoline’. Overall, the tracks got her the attraction, she truly deserved.

Right after two years, her seventh studio album, “This Is Acting” came out, topping the charts, yet again. The album has hits like, ‘Alive’, ‘Cheap Thrills’ and ‘The Greatest’. Shockingly she filled the album with songs that were rejected by other artists, previously. And, we feel that was for the best because no one could do justice to these songs as she has.

She didn’t wait too long to impress her fans and this time she brought the holiday spirits into her tracks. In 2017, she released “Everyday Is Christmas” which featured 10 great songs including, ‘Santa’s Coming for Us’. In 2018, Sia became part of the group, LSD which consists of Labrinth and Diplo, who also dropped a self-titled album, a year later. ‘Genius’, ‘Audio’ and ‘Thunderclouds’ were some of the known tracks from the album. With this, we saw Sia become a more powerful singer and no one could help but adore her.

What Is Sia Up to Now?

Sia has disclosed that she’s gearing up for her upcoming projects which are “waiting to go”. As she works on two studio albums, she’s also ready to drop a musical, titled, “Music”, anytime soon. Apart from these, in May of this year, she also dropped the lead single from, “Music” called ‘Together’. So much is taking place, we’re excited.

One just doesn’t love her for her music but also for all that she’s built with her personality while she performs. Be it the big wigs which cover her face or her dancers like Maddie Ziegler that feature on her videos, she’s got you in the feels. From hiding behind wigs, she stays away from the judgement and appreciates to be known only for her music. We love that and rightly so. And, like all her fans, we can’t also wait for further releases from her. Crossing our fingers and hoping it’s soon.
