The American Musician, James Hetfield has spent forty years in the music industry as part of the band, Metallica. There is no doubt that he is one of the greatest metal guitarist of all times. Be it his performances from the band or his solo sets, he’s mastered the instrument.
Coming from a musical background, you could say that music runs in his genes, his mother was an opera singer. James Hetfield picked his first instrument, piano at the age of nine and five years later, the guitar. Since then, nothing has stopped him form composing music.
As we celebrate the 57th birthday of the legend, James Hetfield who is an role model for many, we want to tell you the ten most important things to know about him.

1. James Alan Hetfield is actually the co-founder of the band, Metallica and not just the lead vocalist, main songwriter and rhythm guitarist.
2. He just does not play for the band, he performs many guitar solos as well. Some during live sessions and few in studios.
3. He is at the eight rank on Joel Mclver’s book, The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists and in Guitar World‘s poll, he’s the 19th greatest guitarist of all time.
4. During a stage performance, James Hetfield faced several injuries on his body, burning his hand, arm, eyebrows, face and hair due to a pyrotechnics accident.
5. James’s first single that he ever purchased was ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
6. He is an endorser for ESP Guitars since 1980s and till date he has six signature guitars with the brand.
7. He’s acted in a number of documentary and concert films, his first film released in 1992 which was called ‘A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica’.
8. He is also part of a game in which people can play his character. It’s called Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD.
9. Hetfield has provided his voice for the character, Wolfgang from the animated series called Skylanders Academy.
10. James Hetfield spends his leisure time to go hunting, farming, beekeeping, customizing his cars and motorcycles or going to Hot Rod shows.
